About us

Wheatley Young Partners was established in 2010, and brings together the skills and expertise of David Young and Megan Wheatley.


David Young

David works with leaders of businesses and organisations working at the interface of the private and public sectors.


David brings over 30-years of experience assisting organisations to develop their strategies and frame their decisions in the context of broader policy, industry and market settings.


He has particular expertise in environmental market design, natural resource management, energy and essential services.


His roles have included First Assistant Secretary in the Australian Department of Environment and Heritage, Director Energy at the Essential Services Commission Victoria, Executive Director Natural England, Chief Executive of the Sustainable Energy Authority Victoria and General Manager at Parks Victoria.


David’s achievements include lead roles in climate change, agri-environment and energy policy reform in the UK and Australia. He has also led major transformations of large and small organisations to realise their potential and meet new challenges.


David is also a practicing lawyer, and holds both a JD and MBA from the University of Melbourne, and a BSc with Honours from the University of Liverpool (UK).


Megan Wheatley

Megan has over 20-years of experience working in the energy sector in both Australia and the UK with a strong focus on sustainable energy. 


Her roles have included Director on the Australian Clean Energy Council Board, Head of Policy for the UK Business Council for Sustainable Energy, Head of Communications & External Affairs at a major global wind energy company, and senior manager at Sustainability Victoria.


She has particular expertise in communications and stakeholder engagement, sustainable energy policy and organisational development.


Megan has a Mechanical Engineering degree from Monash University, and is on the Dean’s Advisory Council for the Faculty of Engineering. 


Megan is a founder of the Female Leader’s Alumni Monash Engineering Scholarship (FLAMES) - an innovative scholarship that brings together a group of women who all studied engineering at Monash to support the next generation of female engineers.
